George and the Dorado

We caught a whopper of a Dorado fish yesterday afternoon. During the day we had lost two lures, one line came in the big bite marks in the plastic line so we knew there most be some big fish around. Finally, around 2.30pm we pulled one in. George spotted it and reeling in the line then did the necessary and scaled and gutted it. In the process we lost the small chopping board over the side but no-one was really bothered in all the excitement. After cleaning the fish up, George cut it into about 10 steaks and marinaded it in garlic, soy sauce and ginger. It was then pan fired and finished off in the oven and served along with Thai sweet chilli rice. Delicious. The lines are out again today and we are hoping for some tuna.

The weather continues to be quite severe with high winds and big seas. We've got around 690 miles to go which means that, all being well, we should reach St Lucia either late Friday or early Saturday. We heard this morning that a couple of people who have taken part in this race in the past are saying its by far the worst weather they have experienced on it. The boat is holding up well though and we are making careful headway despite the earlier problem with the rigging. We also had a warning of a tropical strom building to the north of us but we are hoping that we are far enough south for it not to effect us too much. The good news is that the sun is shining and Becci and I are now in bikini tops and the boys are 'topless' in their shorts. Wayhay, winter tans all round!

Hope you are all having a great Monday!
