Another delightful day - still not much
wind overnight and in the early morning so we have been motor sailing
most of the time. We topped up the diesel tank from spare cans in perfect
conditions during the late morning. Tim's ingeneous "Chinese
jiggler siphon" gadget worked a treat - we transferred 80 litres with no
problems and hardly a drop spiled. Another 80 litres is still in other spare
cans so we have more than enough to motor all the way to the Canaries if we
have to!
After a pleasant ham & cheese salad lunch (with
lots of fresh fruit), the wind picked up and we are now sailing at a steady 6
knots with another 0.7 knots of favourable current. The wind is NE force 3-4,
sea is slight, just the early signs of an Atlantic swell (about 1.5M wave height
at about 100 metre intervals) - lovely conditions.
Battenburg cake for tea - we are about to settle
down to Tortelloni with fresh onion, pepper and tomotoes - the Ciabatta bread
was great and a new bavch is promissed for tomorrow.
We have only seen three vessels today - a super
tanker, a small freighter and a large motor yacht - Lady Sheridan -
which would look perfect in Monaco (Alan A, do you know her?).
Tim's fishing practice continues - today he tried
even bigger and brighter lures...
