John awoke at 5.30am and slipped Twizzle's lines, motored quietly out of the harbour and tied up on a buoy outside the harbour wall.  I awoke half an hour later thinking we were on our way, only to be greeted by thick sea fog - visibility was so low we could only just make out the Condor UK-Channel Island ferry manoeuvre towards the harbour entrance on her way in - she was only metres from us.  Departure had been planned for 8am, but as it was, we departed just 55 minutes late, once the fog had lifted.  Our intention was to re-fuel, Jersey still selling duty-free fuel for boats, but due to the tide, we were unable to come alongside the fuel pontoon as there was insufficient depth.  So off we sailed - France here we come.

Wind was not forthcoming, so we motored most of the way to St Quay-Portrieux, enjoying a calm sea and sunshine.  There were few such days last summer. John dabbled with his newly acquired fishing rod, and later hoisted the genoa not far from our destination, and although the tranquillity of being under sail was mesmerising, we were drifting at only 1-2 knots, so down came the sail => first problem encountered => the genoa halyard came free from the furling drum on the bow.  A job to fix when in harbour.

We arrived in St Quay 5 1/2 hours later, and were directed to our mooring "Ponton D'Honneur" by the Capitainerie

We had arrived, it was sunny, it was the first day of our summer, we felt great

Our first beer swiftly followed on the harbour-side, and enabled us to take our first picture of Twizzle as we drank:
