Thankfully, attempt 2 passed very benignly, and we arrived in the Dominican
Republic in rather better shape. We were moored up in a strange marina
called Ocean World, that was virtually deserted, and part of a casino and
sea-life complex. The facilities and service proved to be first rate, and so
we spent a couple of days touring around the local town of Puerto Plata. Up
until now, we had been in the relatively wealthy Eastern Caribbean, however,
the Dominican Republic proved to be the start of a rather poorer Caribbean
as you can see from the photos below.
