SPALAX

Adrenalin was spritzing all over the deck last night as we hoisted the Genny in an 18-knot north-easterly. The moon had set and it was almost pitch black when Paolo expertly prepared the gennaker to be hoisted behind the genoa which was pushing Spalax along at mere 4.5 knots. Paola was at the helm with Jean-Luc and yours truly tending the sheets to make sure everything went without a hitch. When the sock was all the way up the mast, we simply unfurled the Genny and furled the genoa. A piece of cake. "Ze fingers in ze noze," as they say in French. And Spalax took off at 8 knots.

Before I forget, we failed to cach any fish today, so I made crepes suzettes for supper and everyone agreed they were absolutely fabulous.
