Since last writing we have continued to have twelve hourly changes in the
weather! Early yesterday morning the wind veered 180 degrees to come from
the northeast at 60 degrees on our starboard bow giving us a beat into 18-23
knots of wind. Despite the boat heeling heavily to port – something we
haven’t had for a long time! – we had an enjoyable twelve hour sail with
speeds at times touching 8 knots; which made up for the difficulties cooking
(galley is on the starboard side!), going to the loo etc! By midnight the
wind decided to go somewhere else and left us with no other option than to
put the engine back on. The photo shows the sea state as it has been all day
(Wed 7th May 17:28 [22.28 UK time]). The weather is glorious. Christopher
took the opportunity to go to the top of the mast with his GoPro and managed
to get a short video and some photos of Shenanigan below him. It was a bit
wobbly for him and nerve wracking for us holding his safety lines! As it has
been so calm we have managed to shower (without falling over!) I have made
some bread and painted my toenails! (hopefully you have gathered it is me
writing this and not Brian or Christopher!). The forecast for this evening
and into the early hours suggests the wind will pick up, so fingers crossed
as there are no fuel docks out here!!
