We have reached a secluded bay on Nananu-i-Ra island on the northern coast of Vitu Levu after 2 days of motoring through the coral reefs between here and Lautoka. Actually it wasn't hard to work our way through the various reef passages - given there was a lot of nervousness before we started. At high tide the whole area is a vast expanse of water. At low tide it is mile upon mile of coral reef and sandbank. Thank goodness for GPS, Ipads and Mr. Google!
The winds have been light and variable, although we expect it to pick up tomorrow to 15 kts from the SE - no big deal! Its still 29 degrees in the boat at 6pm tonight!
The snorkeling here is reputed to be good so we may stay for a few days. The water here is clearer given that we are away from the coast. After that we plan to head north for Yadua Island off the SW corner of Vanua Levu.
