SUAKIN
We had our first "meal out" in seven weeks last
night in Suakin, after meeting up with Mohammed, who is the "yacht agent"
in town. There was beans with "mystery" sauce, barbecued chicken and
lamb. All eaten with the fingers and the aid of a piece of bread. On
the way home, in the dark, we were reminded how deprived Suakin is, as
there is no electricity, much less street lighting in most of the town.
This morning was really busy. We transferred half a ton of diesel by
jerry can and dinghy to the boats, then popped into "town" for
some vegetable shopping in the market, a trip to the bakery and a fish
lunch. The bakery was like something form Biblical times, but the bread is
excellent.
In the afternoon, Robert transferred half a ton of water by jerry can to
Fat Annie and Bill transferred four new battereis to
Intsomi.
