Disasters come in threes, just like fish, and London buses!

Not really disasters, more like unwelcome problems that need sorting out, but could grow if not sorted out in good time - but I rather liked the title so stuck with it.. all on the day we left Galapagos( Tuesday)

I have major problem with my laptop. Apparently, Peter ( my technical support back in UK) thinks the RAM may be failing/failed, basically I cannot use it. So he is looking to find a way to get it " serviced under warranty" in Tahiti....hmmm...really annoying... because I do all my photos on it ( luckily I backed it up in Panama so only a 2 weeks of photo editing lost and all except Galapagos photos sent back to UK for the blog). But I also use it to watch videos on that are stored on an external hard disc

Got an email from my tenant to say boiler prerssure had gone to zero and he had no hot water (24 hours before leaving Galapagos on a 3 week passage with only intermittent email!). Luckily I had a morning to speak with Derek and he is handling it

Susanne ( tobe fair, it could have been any of us though) managed to get the anchor jammed into the front roller system as we left Galapagos which Andrew was worried about because he thought it was jammed too hard and we would not be able to use the current anchor in Marquesas, especially since we will need 2 an extra ( kedge ) anchor in the Marquesas to hold us into a heavy swell in most of the anchorages. However, I was bright about it and though we could try and release it by finding something to bang it hard, I was keen to get it sorted while we had no wind, light seas and the sun was shining rather than letting it hang over us for the next 3 weeks. So after lunch I was clambering down in the lazarette( outside store area at the back of the boat, below deck level) digging to the bottom for the old anchor ( it is very heavy) out and eventually we got it to the front and held by a halyard used it as kind of battering ram to bash the anchor unstuck - good job done - more relaxed on board - skipper and crew much happier

We are on 4 hour watches now that we are down to three on board, I am initiallly on 2 - 6 am and pm which suits me very well, although I can change with susanne later I want, she does the earlier time but I quite like the idea of staying with this one

I am pleased to be back on passage again
