Lisboa - Cascais Marina

We are now in Marina De Cascais after a massive run
from Povoa to the mouth of the Rio Tejo that leads into Lisbon.
Incident of the day....(with nautical explanations
described for Sam, Rachel, Jane, Mary and Jarvis)
We had an accidental gybe rounding Cabo Rosa, this
is when the wind is from the back of the boat and changes direction and sends
the mainsail from one side of the boat to the other, and one of the shackles
snapped. When the main went it went with the speed of a bullet but it had a rope
still attached, which I was holding. This rope was ripped out of my arm and went
through the cockpit while the crew were in it. Luckily it went passed everyone
on its high speed journey without consequence......
Great marina and it is starting to feel like we are
approaching warmer climes.
Crew in great spirits and enjoying the rest.
Missed luxury of the day...
It was great to be able to sit on a non-moving
toilet and put the paper down the loo. Wow we do take the smallest things for
granted.
OK so we now are setting off for waht may be the
biggest leg and we have high-winds out there. This marina stop has allowed us to
recharge our bodies for this tough leg ahead.
We hope to round Cabo de Sao vicente at dawn on
Friday morning for the final run across southern Portugal.
It will be tough and demanding and I hope the next
time I write it will be safe in Vilamoura. Insh'allah. - God-willing. Neptuune
willing or any other deity that may help.
