Off Cabo san Vicente.

After a massive run of 100 plus miles with an average speed of 8.3 knots achieved by 1800 revs on the donkey a second reef in the main and a 26 knot tail wind and a very happy sea pushing us.

Probably the best day at sea ever. Dolphins and great fun at the helm. Touched an amazing 15.6 knots down one roller...

Stayed awake for rounding of Cape and it got a bit naughty.

Engine was off and wind came round so we were sailing at 7.6 knots, then it died and came back to 26 again.

Worked out that it would take another 30 hours if we were to be purists and sail again.

One phenomenon was the boats that I have called fireflies. These little beggars turned out to be local fisherman with halogen floodlights fishing stationary.

The halogens meant that that tiny nav lights were unable to be seen so I assumed they were markers for hazards and kept well clear. Later in the marina I saw one of these little fellows.

The trawlers were busy as well going round in circles about our position but the radar was picking them up ok, not the fireflies though....

Mike thought he saw a red flare but we kept watch and monitored 16 for another hour.

No sleep
