Here we go (almost) - Day Minus 1

We’re
ready; we’re eager; we’re raring to go. Literally nothing is left on our to do
list that we need do before the morning of the start – i.e. tomorrow (Tuesday
27th) at 11.00. Today we had Jeff up the mast in a bosun’s chair, sticking
spreader patches on the mainsail; Lucinda
down in the cockpit locker, putting on a wash; Jake
spring cleaning the boat’s insides and Andrew ..... supervising (truly mentally
exhausting). Lucinda
(with a little encouragement from her friends) tried baby squid for the first
time at the Sailor’s Bar and pronounced it delicious.
Lucinda
(and John from afar – many thanks) treated us all to dinner at Pier 19, a
restaurant that not only does great food (e.g.baked provolone with tomato
chutney – just to die for), but also makes the most spectacular Hendricks gin
and tonics presented in great balloon glasses with spirals of cucumber and
juniper berries
As we were
finishing, the most wonderful squall hit the marina, accompanied by a totally
tropical, spine-tingling downpour. We casually ordered more coffee to postpone
our walk home until it had finished.
Now for an
early night.
