La progression est lente le long de la côte ouest de la Grande Bretagne, déjà trois coups de vent depuis notre départ de Cherbourg, il y a a douze jours, et un autre prévu pour la fin de cette semaine. Après trois jours d'arrêt à Falmouth puis à Mildfordhaven, nous attendons maintenant une fenêtre meteo à Holyhead marina. Heureseument, l'abri est bon, ce qui n'est pas si facile à trouver en mer d'Irlande.

C'est notre première visite à Anglesey et les chemins de randonnées autour de Holy Mountain sont très impressionnants : rochers blancs, ciel bleu contrastant avec le jaune des ajoncs. Dimanche, nous avons visité une réserve RSBP (cette année, 13 couples de craves à bec rouge nichent dans les falaises de South Stack au sud ouest de l'île. Nous avons aussi parcouru la jetée du port qui est la plus grande d'Europe (2,4 km). C'était comme marcher sur la mer.

Nous espérons pouvoir naviguer dessus de nouveau avant trop longtemps....

Slow progress is being made up the West Coast of Britain, three gales after leaving Cherbourg twelve days ago with another gale forecast for the weekend. After three day stops in both Falmouth and Milford Haven we are now waiting for a weather window for Scotland at Holyhead marina, which is fortunately well-sheltered.

It's our first visit to Anglesey, and the walking paths around Holy Mountain and along the coastal path are impressive – white rocks, blue sky, yellow gorse. On Sunday we visited the RSPB bird reserve at South Stack (this year there are thirteen pairs of choughs nesting around the high cliffs), then we walked along the Breakwater, at one and a half miles the longest breakwater in Europe – it feels like walking in the sea.

Hopefully before too long we'll be sailing in the sea....
