Ahoy,

Yesterday was a very chilled out day, as we had no waves and no wind, so we were just motoring along. The captain relaxed our life jacket rules and we were able to get a bit of tanning in. We all sat up on the bridge playing a pub quiz game, there was no clear winner - but we all learnt a few things! We also learnt some nautical facts, which was very informative. We now know why the left side is called “Port” and the right is called Starboard. Surprisingly it has nothing to do with where they used to store the port! A few of the boys had some celebratory drinks yesterday to mark our half way point to Cape Verde!

The marine life was out in full force yesterday - or maybe because it was so flat we were able to see more. We spotted some Marlin, a suspected sea snake (which was massive) and some more dolphins. On our first watch last night we were stirring up some phosphorescent sea creatures - it looked absolutely beautiful looking out the back of the boat and seeing bright blue organisms in our wake. Chad and Russell were on first watch and had some amazing luck. Some dolphins came up to the boat whilst we were motoring through the organisms and the dolphin was glowing as it swam around the hull. They said they had never seen anything like it - very jealous!

We continued motoring throughout the night, as the wind still has not picked up. Atleast we are making progress and are getting towards our destination. We can still see Oppturr another boat on the ARC + crossing, he isn’t too far from us. Seem to be keeping good pace with him.

All the meals on board have been fantastic so far, we are eating pretty well. John cooked his famous prawn and spaghetti pasta last night, a major hit! We caught a tuna today and had some delicious tuna steaks for lunch. We have some fillets left over that we might use for Sashimi. Pictures of the first tuna catch below!

Tonight we had a pod of 20 or so Dolphins come up and entertain us. They were swimming along side our boat for over 20 minutes - We couldn’t stop watching them! So beautiful.
