We arrived at Cascais Marina late evening in the dark. Three safe water
south cardinals noted on the chart and in the pilot book marking the safe
passage along the breakwater were not in residence (a clear example of how
buoys change) but not to disappoint, three extra port hand buoys (not noted
in any pilot books) had been inserted diagonally across most of the marina
entrance leaving only a very narrow passage into the marina, a tad confusing
after a 100M passage. The Berthing Master was extremely welcoming and
helpful but allocated a parking spot which needed all the skills and
experience of Peds to shoehorn Sea Flute safely into our berth. In no time
at all we had opened a few tinnies and reflected on the day.
Cascais is an eclectic mix of sophisticated elegance, a modern art backdrop
(see old petrol pump "Guards") mixed with a working port and Costa del Sol
holiday resort, all kept quite separate. Needless to say Tom, Peds and Ian
had a boys Friday night in the Irish Bar watching Liverpool vs Chelsea,
their excuse was a need for some real ale rather than fizzy lager. Dinner
was waiting when they got back to the boat - no change there then!!!!
Sat 17th - Tom, Peds and Lindy have taken the train into Lisbon so hopefully
we will all find out about that trip in due course.
The Portuguese Classic Car Club are holding a major event here today so off
to have a little look.
Bye for now
Ian & Liz
PS Great car show pick for us was a Red Allard Racer
