Written at the hotel at 5 the following morning - sleep patterns only hour 2 -3 hours and then I'm wide awake, but there is a wireless connection and gadget man is hooked up to the world! Actually from being a slave to email I've actually got to the stage of looking at my laptop and wondering if I should start it up - but back to the real world and 100+ emails a day from next week !! Hopefully as I've hardly answered any over the last few weeks people may stop sending them!

After motoring the final 9 miles from Port St Charles , in some of the best wind we've seen for weeks, we eventually dropped the hook in Carlisle Bay . Must admit it appeared that all had forgotten how to do this as it took a couple of attempts.

So the end has come to what has been a really enjoyable trip in the company of a great bunch of guys. Obviously to spend this much time in close proximity, even hot bunking etc I would have expected there to have been some "issues", however everyone has meshed really well.

The three watch system has meant quite a lot of off time for all and the nigh watches of 3 on 6 off followed by day watch of 4 on 8 off have been very easy to handle.

Having a water maker on the boat has been an absolute dream as the idea of no freshwater showers for the trip was not appealing. However we've managed a shower every few days and the wet wipes are hardly used!

A number of cases of Atlantic Anus have been reported however I can find no reference in the Ship Captains medical guide to this ailment, yet I figure it comes from sitting hour upon hour on fibreglass cockpit seats !

The watches of:-

Rod, Bruce Murray
Marcus, Tony, Ian Andrew
Toby Patrick, Stewart
plus deckboy, executive chef Ollie

are all ready to head for a hotel which is another story but will not be documented !

The crew of Colin the skipper, Travis, Dave and Luke the mate will now head off to Antigua as the boat will spend the winter in the Caribbean, Colin heads home asap to his wife and baby, Travis is looking fwd to "married life " in St Thomas, Dave is looking forward ?, and Luke is going racing on big boats .

Good luck all I've enjoyed it.

Next time ?

Rod
