Wednesday 16th May.

We set sail from Aegina for Mandraki at about 10.30 having decided to motor and put up some sails if we had some wind .. The wind was proving illusive, so we motored for the first two hours, until our first problem raised its ugly head ..  We all noticed a change in the engine note, and found that we were getting no engine cooling ..  We shut down quickly before overheating the engine, and Sue and George put up the Fore Sail to keep us out of harms way, whilst I investigated the Engine room ..

A brief call to Hans, the former captain, confirmed my suspicion that the probable cause might be the water impeller, and we had a spare on board. It was 2 hours later before the engine had cooled enough for me to change the impeller, and of course it was in the most impossible place to change ..  Considerable cursing ensued ..!!

Some 3 hours later the job was completed and we continued on our way, thanking God that previous Captain Hans had kept some spares on board.. !!

Lovely evening out and nice meal. A very exhausting day for all.
