Tonight we are anchored in Loch Harport, by the
Talisker Distillery, with the Black Cuillin Mountains as a backdrop. Another
very fine anchorage. Here, the directions in the pilot book put us back on more
familiar territory! We are due to come back here with the Classic malts Cruise
in 10 days time, but wanted to experience it first, and before it was overrun
with boats. For crows, this spot is only some 20 miles from our last anchorage,
but our course was dictated by the deeply indented nature of the Skye
coastline, and we covered nearly 50 miles to get here. But it was worth the
effort.
Ashore we had supper at 'The Old Inn', which serves
as pub, restuarent, hotel and climber's hostel. The local creel caught
langoustine make the skinny things the French serve look (and taste) very
inferior. And they served a dangerously smooth beer from the Cuillin Brewery,
which could be a major cause of shipwrecks! Just as well that the distillery was
closed on a Sunday.
