This is very close to Puerto Vallarta, the main port on this part of the Mexican coast. It is also in Bahia de Banderas (Bay of flags) which is a popular recreational area.
We stopped in San Blas on the way down. San Blas was more genuinely Mexico with a nice little marina, somewhat drowsy village, and a beautiful estuary. We took a local boat (panga) up the river and spotted numerous crocodiles (yes, crocodiles, not aligators), turtles, coati (resembles a racoon) and and abundance of birds.
The sailing has not been very good simply for the lack of any wind. We did, however, sail the last leg going in to this anchorage. The humpback whales are still here in numbers.
Ken is doing fine onboard, and in a few days we are picking up Mike (Canadian/Brit) who will sail with us down to Costa Rica.
