How do we get a 30 tonne boat moving in 9kts of wind........well we are not sure?

We were over taken by another yacht, we do get overtaken quite often. And they had their main sail up, a headsail poled out, and flying their cruising chute. This is a sail plan we haven’t tried. So that was this morning exercise, and we set about constructing something similar.

We have a inner forestay, with a stay sail on it, so this was lifted and poled out on the opposite side to the chute. With the main half out, it seemed to make a difference, or was that just wishful thinking.

We have finally settled after all that with just the cruising chute up.

I wonder what rig we will try tomorrow ?
