It was an other super day sailing on gwylan in this
great great great pond of water.
A bit of a record day we could say..
Last night was the first night that it was that
warm that we could do with shorties and a t-shirt, though we had some drops of
rain and a few small squalls. The wind increased from 12-18 to 18-25 knots
and around 6 am we decided to take the parasailor down and sail on the main sail
and the yankee. Until noon we were going very well whith winds around 25
knots and an average speed of 8,7 knots, at 1 pm we put the parasailor
back up and continued our nice cruising. We had a maximum wind speed of
30,6 knots at 6 am and a new maximum speed (sog) of 12,1 knots at 6 pm. The
distance of 209 miles we did the last 24 hours was the best we had so
far. On worldcruising.com you can see the whole fleet and there we also found
that we were nr 23 in terms of distance to st. Lucia overall, which we are very
pleased with.
Nicky and I had lots of energy left so we
did some good exersises on deck. I think my trainer should be happy to hear
that I even exercised my spirals and other balance exercises on the
front deck. Also we went on the transom to bathe ourselfs a bit in the 30
degrees water, which was very nice. For lunch I made some coleslaw and we
had nice wraps for diner.
Yesterday I went up on the spinaler pole to change
the guy, and today nicky went up the pole to do a chafe check, whtch was very
exciting!
On the VHF I heard a dutch boat: 'lamawaje'
which seemed to be not so far behind us. So I have had a daily
chat with them in dutch to see what the weather is like and how the fishing
is going.
Also a question from Nicky: Does anyone know what
the names of the sisters of Marge Simson in the serie The Simpsons are? If you
do please let us know by mail.
I think that's about it.. I am going to sleep
now since I am on watch from 11 pm to 2 am with my new watch buddy:

Think I will write an other blog later on this
week.. but of course there is every day somebody to write.

ps. Nog een stukje in het nederlands. Word al bijna
moeilijk met al die Engelsen aan boord. Maar ik hoop dat er ook nog een paar
Nederlandse vrienden en familie dit lezen. We hebben hier echt super weer,
ongveer 30 graden gemiddeld. En het zeilen gaat allemaal super goed.Soms een
beetje spannend zo s'nachts omdat er soms wat hardere wind opkomt, maar ik begin
er aan te wennen.Overdag lekker een beetje met de boot bezig zijn, lezen en
vissen vangen (die we ongeveer gelijk daarna opeten) Ik denk ook dat ik
straks niet meer recht kan staan als ik in st. Lucia aankom, 18 dagen aan een
stuk door te wiebelen is toch niet niks =P
In Las Palmas was het al heel gezellig. Op de ARC
feestjes wat Nederlanders ontmoet maar ook een paar jongens van de boot Satori,
waar we een beetje tegen aan het racen zijn. Met hun nog een avondje gaan eten
(met de hele crew van onze en hun boot) en gaan stappen. Ook nog een goed
vooruitzicht is dat we straks in st. Lucia ook nog een paar dagen hebben waarin
we een beetje zullen gaan rondtoeren, snorkelen en.. Kitesurfen!! Dus dat moet
goed komen.
