03.30UTC It feels as if most of the day we have been pushing current. Also the winds have been from the direction we are heading for: NW. Which meant more motoring. Mostly light winds, clear skies, but as the winds have a Northerly component in them there is a distinct chill to them and we can certainly feel the difference in temperature coming up the further North we get, particularly at night. First time in ages wearing socks and boots again!

Nothing new to report, just more flying fish around and another bird on board. This one seems quite clever, found itself a good hiding spot for the night. But we won't keep our hopes up, as we have never been able to drop off a bird-lost-at-sea ashore yet. You can probably imagine how this story will develop.

As we are somewhere off the Florida coast (coming up to the same latitude as Daytona Beach), which curves inward, we will not be making a huge attempt to reach the Gulfstream which is somewhere far to the West of us (50 - 100 Nm). We will just keep going NNW with a little help from the engine and wait for the forecasted WSW - SW winds to make us curve towards the Gulfstream to catch a ride with a few extra knots further North. The winds seems on the verge to do so as we write.

We have passed the 1,000 Nm mark of the passage today, we have totalled 1,080. Only about 1000 to Maine!

Could not send out this mail earlier, now 6 hours later off St. Augustine, FL., after a wet squall with lightning. Virtually becalmed now. Where is that wind?

Cheers,

Geoff & Merel
