03.00 UTC The first 125 Nm are in the pocket after 16 hours at sea. We have just passed the N coast of Puerto Rico, which was lit up like a glowing blanket from lights of the land. Also a bit of lightning over the island - luckily far enough away from us. The winds are still a bit light (E 15 kts) so that means motor sailing to keep the speed up. Had to get used to a proper ocean swell but are now in the swing of things. We saw quite a few flying fish during day time, Cookie scared them out of the water. No sight nor smell of them yet at night time, when they sometimes land on deck instead of escaping the boat by flying away from it. Both Ursus Major and Southern Cross are visible in the starry sky. Phosforescants in the sea. Quite a nice start of the trip. More tomorrow.

Cheers,

Geoff & Merel
