We’ve just sailed past The Smalls lighthouse off the coast of
Pembrokeshire. This puts us on track to arrive in Aberdyfi on Saturday morning,
almost exactly 9 days and 1440 miles after leaving Horta in the Azores. It’s
been an enjoyable and varied trip. The first leg with Pete from Newfoundland to
the Azores saw us in thermals and woolly hats dodging icebergs in fog on the
Grand Banks. Seven days later we were in shorts and T shirts supping the vino
verde of Flores. The second leg, singlehanded from Horta to Aberdyfi (although
not quite there yet!) is about the same distance as the first and also involved
dodging things in fog. But it’s felt much longer; probably on account of the
rather bleak social life on board!
CATRYN will now be based in Aberdyfi now for the rest of the summer
enjoying a well earned rest. She’s sailed some 9,000 miles in the past 12
months
and needs a good refurb. The next trip? Lots of plans but nothing firm
enough to write about yet. Watch this space!
Meanwhile, thankyou all very much for following our modest blog this summer
and for your emails. Signing off now, with
Best Regards, hwyl am rwan
