31st July 2008
Having completed the Rally Portugal, Blonde
Moment was left in Lagos marina for 3 weeks, awaiting the family crew for the
next leg to Lanzarote.
First of all a weeks holiday was planned enjoying
the facilities of Lagos. The boys (skipper and son - I let him call
himself that as it keeps him happy!) did two days of surf tuition on the West
coast and quickly realised how fit you have to be to get beyond the break!
They also did their first cold water dives (13*C) which was a huge shock for Tom
after a recent week diving in Gozo (water temp. 26*C). The girls
mooched around the town discovering the fish market and experimenting with
different types of fish for supper most evenings.
The beach is wonderful and the water looks
so inviting, but in reality reminds me of the open air swimming pool cut into
the rocks in the north sea at my old school in St. Andrews,
Scotland.
Before too many barnacles could grow, Blonde
Moment required the foot bridge to be raised in the marina and set out on the
458 mile trip to Porto Santo.
