SINAN is a 43' Sun Odyssey deck saloon. She is two years old. Sinan, by contrast, died 419 years ago. He was the Christian court architect to Suleyman the Magnificent, arguably the greatest Ottoman Sultan. Sinan orchestrated the building of some of the most beautiful buildings in the world including the great Suleiman mosque in Istanbul. He also built ships.

One of the pictures attached to this biography shows Sinan with her permanent crew - the Kelsey boys. One of these - the larger one on bow aka Kit - is coming on the Biscay Triangle. The others will be watching via yachtplot.

Tim Kelsey is owner and skipper. He is one of the founders of a company called Dr Foster which supplies the NHS with information the quality of patient care. It was one of the top 10 fastest growing companies according to the Sunday Times last year. Before that he was a journalist - variously, a foreign correspondent with the Independent, Channel 4 TV presenter and news editor with the Sunday Times. He can be contacted on 07880 505643. There is also a picture of him attached. You may note the wine bottle. The crew have agreed that there will be no wine on this trip across Biscay and they are bringing suitable sedatives to ensure that any withdrawal reactions are managed effectively.

The rest of the crew for Biscay (they will need to fill in their own details) are:

Mike Kelsey, Tim's father and more importantly president of the Royal Dart Yacht Club. Mike sails Tagide, an Oyster Heritage 37, and is a veteran of the Biscay Triangle (though I can't remember which year it was - Dad, please update). He likes to tell the story of how the fleet left Torquay on that occasion in a raging force 9 and how everybody was ill for days afterwards.

Kit Kelsey, Tim's son, aged 14. Kit recently passed his day skipper - we are all very proud of that. He enjoys music, television, as well as television and music and also television and music (Kit, over to you)

Roger Taylor, economist, co-founder of Dr Foster, journalist, musician - more details please

Rhidian Wynn-Davies is Welsh and works at the Daily Telegraph. Rhidian can sing Men of Harlech quite rousingly and should have been one of the Welsh rifleman at Rourke's Drift, as portrayed in the film Zulu, but was born too late for that.

Colin Lloyd used to make cakes and then moved to France. It's more complicated than that but he can explain it himself. Anyway, he has come to his senses and is now safely back in Britain

Paul Careless is a master with a rivet gun and will be responsible for all DIY and hard work during the passage.
