Just about to leave Makunudu Island in the Maldives when we saw ‘things’ around the boat. Shark like fins but white points on the tips of ‘wings’. The sun was still low so visibility not great but Guy jumped in to the water and there – massive Manta rays, mouths gaping and ‘flying’ through the water gently flapping their large wings. 4 rays and an amazing experience. Simonne’s turn was next, so excited that she didn’t put any bikini bottoms on! I am not sure what the people on the beach were watching but whatever it was they seemed pleased!
