Good sail along the Sumatra coast, reaching the very busy entrance to the Sunda Straight around lunchtime – lots of ro-ro ferries from Java waiting to dock. Scenery much more interesting with some v large volcanoes on the Sumatra shore and on the nearby islands, including Krakatoa, which had just become visible after turning the corner. It took all afternoon motoring to reach Krakatoa but the arrival as the sun was beginning to set was spectacular. Anchored just 50m from the black sand beach of Anak Krakatoa right under the smoking cinder cone. Very peaceful. Not a soul in sight and truly on our own. Primeval.
