...Bayona!   This is the second instalment following our reconnection  to the internet...

Probably the nicest sail of the holiday so far...Dolphins in abundance,,, beautiful islands... amazing birds...sunshine...

Shore leave granted for the Crew who set about leading the skipper on two laps of the huge and impressive castle (once round the walls and once round the moat...) that had held Frances Drake at bay on his failed revenge mission after the Armada debacle... they didnt teach us that at school did they... Evidently he was seen off at La Coruna on the same mission by a certain Maria Pita... who, if you would believe the guides...saw The Drakester and his fleet off single handed armed with nothing more than a Chorizo Sausage and a Spanish Omellette...

We were blessed with that unusual meteorological phenomena in Bayona... sunshine.. though a chilly wind soon had us heading South seeking the elusive combination of sunshine and heat...

On departure from the Marina Deportivo the Chief Line Handler and Acting Diplomatic Advisor vociferously engaged the yacht Avalon of Falmouth and persuaded them to seek a berth at the Club Monte Real instead of the Deportivo citing very poor value, primitive facilities, broken wifi and the least polite and most arrogant office staff encountered in almost 1000 miles...  It worked and they u-turned in front of bemused marina staff to seek the mooring so heartily recommended by our Ambassador...  the skipper intervened to prevent a further call on Channel 16 to drive the message home... success already having been achieved and maritime protocol in need of protection...

More dolphins... did they take the skippers glasses?  The skipper swears he saw one wearing a very smart pair of tinted vari-focals with a smug grin on its face.. but he couldn't be sure as he wasn't wearing his glasses at the time...

And so to Vianna Do Castella...
