Good morning all! We have woken up to another beautiful clear sky. Let's hope it stays that way! Yesterday I was extremely thankful that Jon had made the canopy for the cockpit and the side curtains also! It started out as a totally gorgeous morning and because the winds were a little too strong for us so we decided to hang around, with a number of other boats that were also hanging around, and have a nice lazy day at Garry's Anchorage. (Now I know you are probably thinking 'Isn't everyday a lazy day?' and I guess in part that is true but I always feel like there is something to do, even if it's putting the kettle on for onesy's or twosy's!!!! ) As it turned out, that beautiful morning turned into quite a downpour in the afternoon! I could see the clouds and hear the thunder and for a moment, thought it may actually go past us but nope - it came our way and we got some good rain! Then once it was done, the clouds parted and out came the sun again leaving everything looking refreshed! Seeing as we had spent the whole day up to this point on the boat reading and pottering, we thought we should stretch our legs on land. We thought about doing it earlier but that would have required moving out of the cockpit.......and then it rained! So it was probably a good thing. However, when we went across at sunset we discovered a few walking tracks so when the tide goes out a little later I am going to venture across and go for a walk and see what I can see! It looks beautiful though and that's coming from someone who is not particularly into bushwalking but it's interesting how something you wouldn't do voluntarily in the past, you are keen to do when your space is limited! We were heading back to Pegasos after our 10 minute stint on land at sunset when a guy on the boat next to ours said hello. As we got closer he and his wife asked if we would like to join them for a drink - which then turned into dinner (after we retrieved the port from our boat for dessert!) As it turned out, they were both teachers as well. It was a great night to have a chat to and talk to other yachties. So that was all for yesterday. A nice easy day! This morning we woke and as I was putting the kettle on when I saw Jon come out with the shower bottle and head for the deck. When I questioned him as to what he was doing...the response was "I don't know but I am gonna do it quick before I change my mind!" which was very quickly followed by a loud splash over the side of the boat and a quick swim to the stern and up into the dinghy and up onto the boat again! Why? I have no idea but it's certainly one way to wake up! Just in case you were wondering......no I didn't follow but I laughed very loudly!!! Ok I am going to go now and do some baking, cleaning and then go ashore! Have a wonderful Friday! I am sorry that you are getting more sunset photos today but they were too spectacular to not share. Love to all Claris A lot of people ask me if I were shipwrecked,
and could only have one book, what would it be? I always say 'How to Build a
Boat Stephen Wright The clouds they are a comin'!
I was sure it was going to go around us! Pretty awesome looking sky! It was hard to see this boat at one point but I was inside the saloon then not poking my head out of the hatch getting wind blown! And then it passed! And resulted in this absolutely gorgeous sunset so we decided to take some pics from the dinghy! The water here is so clear. It was actually recommended as a good swimming spot! This is as far as we got on land yesterday! |
