PAVAN - Saturday 1/9

Last Sunday we arrived in Vila Real de Santa Antonio, which is on the Portuguese side of the Rio Guadiana which divides the country from Spain. Quite an exciting entrance, because the little marina is very tight for space, and has a viscious cross current. Once you are half in, you are committed !

On Monday we sailed back towards Faro to pick up Sue from the airport.

We then enjoyed a couple of days in the sun...........swiming and eating, prior to Pat departing on Thursday

We are now ( Saturday 1/9 ) at anchor inside the islands off Olhao ( ten miles east of Faro ). Absolute bliss. Not very touristy, but very much a traditional working fishing port. The place is awash with little pavement restaurants, with every fish one could ever imagine. Most menus don't even have meat on them.

Out here by the islands, it is quiet and good holding. We are 200m offshore, with the odd boat anchored some way astern. We go ashore by water taxi, which is all very easy.

This evening Tim and Rhona arrive from the UK, but only for a few days. Over dinner we shall make a plan for tomorrow. Is it to be east or west ?
