After lots of modifications we took Lancer over to Holland to try the new toys, gadgets and sails out. Though occasionally chilly much was learned about the boat, the toys and ourselves. Visits included Medemblik, Vollendam and Amsterdam  on a wet cold night. The hatch was pulled over, the sherry opened and the heaters fired up for a night of crib !

The trip back was a North Sea classic, favourable winds to start with , then a nasty 7/8 gale appeared and resulted in us bearing off the wind and making for Lowestoft, arriving at 3a.m. It was during this trip that I learned the meaning of the phrase, `all hands to the pumps`. As we left the boat for hot showers, Paul quietly uttered the words, `no more early spring cruises chaps`, it then began to snow.

The latest trip was with Phil, Paul, and Steve sailing up to Whitby and by all accounts had a whale of a time......
