Fridays blog. We reached Cascais at 2 a.m. ship's time and had to wait for the fuelling berth to open at 9 so filled in the time with beers in a karaoke bar who thanks to the persuasive power of Jaz stayed open late to accommodate some thirsty sailors. What felt like a very few hours sleep. Left at 9 expecting to motor all day but got the pleasant surprise of 15 kts of following wind which let us put up a masthead spinnaker which gave us some very valuable training, and a steady progress of 10 odd kts. We have now dropped it in favour of Derek's new furling headsail and are still making brisk progress and eating well on Joe and Matt's purchase of half a dozen different kinds of Portuguese pastries.
