Departure from Lisbon
Enigma's Transatlantic Voyage

The D Day has
arrived. The adventure which has been in planning for 3 years is finally
starting. Today, we will set sail from Lisbon towards Canarias (Las
Palmas). The crew for this first leg is a great team of 6: Manuel
Francisco (Manel), Boyan, Penaforte, Manuel Valero Sr. (Manolo), Manuel Valero
Jr. (Manu) and me (Manuel). As 4 out of us 6 have the same first name, it
will take time to get used. On the way, we plan to stop at Porto
Santo, Madeira and Selvagens (weather permitting...). For
the last couple of days, there has been a typical autumn storm, with strong
wind, rain and heavy seas (8 m). Sunday night the wind has
slowed down a bit, turned North and by end of day Monday we should be OK to
leave.
We will be reporting
regularly our progress and our experiences as we cross the Atlantic and enjoy
time in the Caribean. Stay in tune, as it should be
fun...
