Yesterday afternoon we cleared in, a relaxed procedure compared to the outright horror stories told about the diligence of Ozzie Customs, but still the most thorough we had thus far in our travels. Nothing unexpected really, except for a discussion between the two officials whether we were allowed to keep our “Mozzie swatter”, the Ozzie _expression_ for our electric mosquito electrocution device. Apparently these were prohibited in Australia until recently, as they did not pass the test for electrical safety. The law has meanwhile now, so we were allowed to keep the racket. Most of the investigation centres around the presence of termites on board, which Australia seeks to avoid importing at all costs. Most cabinets and drawers were opened and emptied of their content to check for termites. None were found, but the boat was a mess after that, so part of the afternoon Daph spent reorganising it. A lovely shower on shore.
