Saturday 9th December 2006, pontoon 15 in Marina
Deportivo de Las Palmas, Gran Canaria. Been here for 10 days or so, making the
final preparations for the departure to the Cape Verdes on or about the 17th of
December. Hoping to be there for Christmas and then off to the Caribbean,
probably Barbados first, for some R&R (rum and roti).
Lots of little jobs still to do, but most
aren't too essential so if they don't all get done, well who
cares...looking forward to the final shopping, including some rather lovely
Spanish wine and a leg of ham (or two if I can sneak another one aboard). Seems
a shame to leave all the lovely Spanish nosh behind so we're determined to
take as much of the especially nice stuff with us, and sod the extra
weight!
Lots of other boats here getting ready for the off,
many nationalties including Aussies, Kiwis, Americans, French, German,
Dutch...the list goes on. A fair sprinkling of Brits too, and a reasonable
number of people we know from our time spent in Turkey, including those who
still have the diving gear they bought from us when we left Turkey without a
boat.
We will try to keep this blog frequently updated,
at least when there's something new to report, so keep
checking!
