New Year's Eve saw a magnificent firework display next to the harbour and loud, happy (but drunk!!)

crowds dancing the night away in Mindelo.

We had expected to depart for the Atlantic crossing today, but gusts of nearly 50kt are howling across

the bay and besides, the New Year's Eve party must have been too good because there is no sign of

the chap who should have unlocked the water (his wife says he's to stay home!) so we've delayed

departure for today.
