„Callisto“ had a fantastic maiden-voyage from Ipswich via Ramsgate, Brighton, Isle of Wright, Dartmouth . Specially the first days with lots of wind at the nose, rough seas- but Devon- and Cornishcoast welcome us with good winds, sun, beautiful landscapes- good times.

Sitting now at home in Austrian mountains, packing my bags for stage 2. Falmouth- Scilly Islands- Waterford- Dublin-Glasgow. Warning: Guitar on bord from now on ;)

 

More news, pictures, positions when I managed to handle the beast- my bord- laptop.

Arrived after anquiet bumpy ride (wind5-6/7),waves and tide against us from Ipswich Callisto and crew arrived   at Ramsgate Marina yesterday.No change in weather-even more wind- so today we are lazy and good boys-going to Chanterbury-Mick to a local service in a kind of church for sailors.Don't worry-the Callisto crew are no saints.Sorry if my _expression_ in English is not crrect and there are mistakes- English is not my mothertongue.
Tomorrow IF less wind Callisto will be on her way to Brighton. Fair Winds  Cary

After one day of celebrating 2 days of preparing Callisto it seems after one last shopping tour in Ipswich for proviant and some nice wines we-(John,Mick,Cary)are ready to go-maybe some anchoring in the Orwell tonight-tomorrow Ramsgate.Fair winds to all.

Die Tage vergehen wie im Flug- vor etwas mehr als einer Woche das 1.Mal mit dem neuen „Traumschiff“ abgelegt- neu-aufregend-aber auch mit viel wehmütigen Gedanken an „Passion“- das ist „Callisto’s“ Vorgängerin, eine HR 43.

Ach ja, ihr kennt „Callisto“ noch nicht- griechische Nymphe, von Zeuß begehrt und vor der Rache der Hera-seiner eifersüchtigen Frau in Gestalt des „Großen Bären“ am Nachthimmel in Sicherheit gebracht- ich liebe Mythen. Die heutige „Callisto“ ist eine Oyster 46- außen und innen (Ahorn+Teak+blaue Polsterung) wunderschön, ganz darunter „very British“- bisschen altmodisch-kompliziert. Ich glaube, sie will- muß entdeckt werden.

Vorige Woche „handover“- dh. Testsegeln-motoren von St. Katharines Dock (neben Towerbridge)- Themse  entlang- Greenwich- 0 Meridian passiert- gibt’s einen würdigeren Ort für die erste Fahrt ? – Ärmelkanal-Ipswich.

Wie bei sovielen „Erstmaligen“- kleine Probleme –die Oyster-Crew hat auch noch zu tun- bekommen ja auch wirklich genug.

Ja, in 10 Tagen soll’s los gehen- „Callisto’s“ erste Reise, sie wird uns an Englands westliches Ende führen, durch die irische See nach Dublin, nordwärts über Firth of Clyde, Glasgow, Hebriden, den äußersten Norden Schottlands- vor mehr als 1000 Jahren segelten dort die Wikinger westwärts- (immer auch Geschichte(n) )- Orkney Inseln, dann geht’s wieder südlich über Edinburgh ( hoffentlich schaffen wir das Festival- Musik, gute Bücher, Theater (nicht nur das Leben), Filme und viele andere Sinnesfreuden und Eindrücke werden an Bord und während der Reisen immer eine große Rolle spielen- zurück nach Ipswich.

Auf mich wartet nebst „Callisto“ reisefertig zu machen die für mich PC-Niete die Aufgabe-diesen Blog richtig in Gang zu bringen, von Zeit zu Zeit mit Bildern zu versehen-wird schon klappen !
