Yesterday was our 23rd Wedding Anniversary. I am also delighted to report that unlike the previous two years we managed to celebrate it in real style. The year before last we had a disastrous meal on St Mary’s in the Scilly Isles, and last year we were crossing Biscay in pants weather and managed to arrive in the Helford River in Cornwall with 15 minutes of our special day left.  So this year I was determined to ensure we had a great day. We had cards from the family, e-mails, texts and phone calls. It was terrific that everyone when to such trouble.

After a lazy start we wondered off to the other side of Lagos, to a cliff top restaurant for lunch. On the way there we discovered that the Trotter family are alive and well and now are Ex Pats’ in Lagos.

After a splendid lunch of grilled Sea Bream (Dorado) and a Shrimp Salad, we headed back to the marina. It was so hot we decided to erect the all over boat cover AKA “The Marquee”. So we chilled out in a warm breeze, then got ready for our night out. Jennie wore a new frock and looked absolutely stunning. I had made a special arrangement at the best restaurant we know in Lagos, and so when we arrived all to the staff were smiling at us and the waitresses made a real fuss of Jennie. Once at our table we had a bottle of chilled Champagne and a delightful flower display which is now gracing our saloon table.

We had a superb evening and it most definitely made up for the previous two years!

Tomorrow we are off out for a day sail, in what promises to be temperatures of around 31 degrees and a good Northerly breeze. Might even see if we can find some Dolphins!!
