Happy New Year to anyone who is following us on this blog.True Colours is still in Antigua.

A couple of days ago we removed all floorboards and the hatch in the front bulkhead to try to trace the source of our leak which, while not desperate, needs fixing at some stage.  We now think we have solved it – some delamination of the fibreglass at he anchor locker bulkhead is allowing water through from the locker to the bilges.  Although Rainbow tell us that the best qualified composites expert on the island is called Oli (and we had a chance to see some of his work yesterday), he has limited spare time during daylight hours so we have a guy coming from Woodstock (superyacht and yacht repairers) tomorrow to give us a quote.
Mainsail is back;  two new battens and all batten [pocket protectors re-stitched by A&F Sails.  Not had the bill yet, but hopefully not too horrific.
Saturday we hired a car and drove around the island.  Stopped to watch Toby and Oli windsurf at Jabberwock beach, then lunch at Cecelia’s – expensive but really good.
Also been swimming a few times at Pidgeon beach.
Last night Rosemary, James and Sarah went to the “Copper & Lumber” hotel for New Years; good buffet and great table next to the band, who were excellent.  At the end of the meal we chatted for a while to a couple and their two daughters who own a Grand Soleil 39 on the Hamble – coincidentally they own the very boat we looked at at the boat show three or four years ago which blew us away and made us aware of the GS brand
After dinner a few drinks with Toby and Oli and others from Rainbow / surrounding boats, followed by fireworks at midnight, a few more drinks and then late to bed.
