We said that we wanted to Christmas in Antigua, and we are – still seems amazing.

Got the mainsail to the local sailmaker today – two new battens and repairs to the batten pocket protective strips will all be done by Friday (Guy apologised that they were having two days off.)

Biggest issue has been electric hook-up;  with fans, refrigerator, all the lights, etc the batteries were showing signs of running down after 24 hours.  So the dock is set up for superyachts;  we established that the supply was 220v, but the socket was far bigger than True Colours plug – and we had already bought a bigger one to hook up at St Lucia (UK seems to use 16A, St Lucia 32A).  Back to the marina office – yes they normally have them to hire, but it seems people are not returning them so they have none – “try the chandleries”;  walk to the two chandleries in the heat of the day – neither have one, not even in the catalogue of Budget Marine.  See if we can blag one off the Sunsail office – they have their own adaptors, we could use one if it fitted, but it does not fit. Then Oli and Stitch from Rainbow ride in to the rescue;  they drive to another chandlery with no success, but then we call Cat Club Chandlery and they have them in stock.  Cost is massive (ca. £170 – which is probably why they were not in the Budget Marine catalogue) but needs must.  When it comes (quite a drive but Stitch has a car) it is fitted with no problems except that of the 8 cable glands provided to accommodate different sizes of cable none were small enough for our puny shorepower lead.  Still we are now connected.

Pina coladas at Admirals Inn, a tour of Rainbow for Rosemary and Sarah and the day is done.
