So the two main reasons for staying at Portsmouth were the Indian River tour, and to fill up with water. Tour scheduled for 07.00, 07.30 nobody had come. James goes off in the dinghy to see Seabird; his associate not passed on message. So we set out at 08.00 with an apologetic Geoffrey. Passing under the Indian River Bridge, water was pouring our of the mains pipe, sufficient to sink a boat below, so no mains water. Great tour, and maybe 1 out of 2 isn't bad.
Set off 11.00 for Deshaises, arriving soon after 14.00. Saw turtles and flying fish on the way, but no wind, so we motorsailed.
After mooring at Aldive, and chatting to Billy and Samantha, we took a bus to the Champagne Reefs, where Liz and James snorkelled, enjoying the colourful fish and the effect of bubbles.
Thursday we took a tour of the southern part of Dominica with Sea Cat (Octavious). Brilliant! Frequent stops at the roadside to sample the various fruits, vegetables and herbs; we even stopped for a taste of moonshine rum. Then a visit to Victoria Falls which involved three crossings (each way) waist high of the river in flood, and quite demanding climbing over rocks. The sense of achievement when we swam in the waterfall pool was great. After hiking back, a Rasta lunch at Moses' restaurant.
Friday we move to Martinique.
