Parati

We set off for Parati yesterday, planning to stop and snorkel on the way. About 40 mins into our trip our chart plotter, which we just had fixed at considerable expense, died again. It was the exact same problem as before. They had sworn it would never happen again as they had replaced the Brain and heart (their words). They actually replaced the CPU!

So we laughed off the stops and came straight to Parati. Luckily the technician that had worked on it was it Parati when we arrived so he came to the boat and took the chart plotter with him! The technician from Sao Paulo was with him and took it straight to Sao Paulo so hopefully we get it back soon.

We are anchored in the bay at Parati. This morning we went into town to do the formalities. One has to sign in in every port .

I thought Angra was great. I loved the small town atmosphere and the setting so close to Ilha Grande; then we arrived in Parati!

Wow! Parati is beautiful. The “Historical Centre: of town (which is most of the town) is cobbled streets and the architecture is just beautiful. Ok the photos will speak for themselves! J It is definitely more “commercialised” in that I think visitors come here and forget to leave! The speak a little more English and are willing to try. Not the “NO” with a back turned  when you ask if they “fala ingles”, like in Angra. But as I have said before when I try to speak Portuguese and tell them I am trying to learn they soon speak a better English than my Porra ! J

I can’t explain Parati. See for yourself! J

Off to the surrounding islands tomorrow!

First some picture of the Sting ray and some snorkelling we did off of the Nuclear Power Yacht club!

Just look at all the Sea Urchins!
