After a whirlwind four days in Auckland visiting family, I arrived back in Papeete on the same flight as Marlborough friends Chick and Pete Anderson.  They were joining us – but not for a week.  We’d been expecting other friends who had changed their minds and we’d had to accommodate all parties so Chick and Pete booked themselves into a resort.   We’re now anchored back in beautiful Moore off the Pearl Resort where Chick and Pete are staying!  They were unable to cancel their booking but will leave on Sunday and join us then for the sail across to Huahine.

It was wonderful to met my great niece Ella in Auckland and spent time with my sister and mum.  Back in Papeete it was time for a final Carrefour provision.  The anchorage off Taina Marina has become known as Carrefour Bay.   As cruisers arrive from the remote Marquesas and Tuamotos you can almost see their eyes light up when they spy the Carrefour.   Carrefour is a huge French supermarket where you can buy anything – albeit, often at outrageous prices.  Still, we’re in France and baguettes are only 50c, a wedge of brie $4 and a lump of pate $2 – life isn’t all bad!
