making good progress i think. finally I've seen my whales! not what I was really after (a gargantuan monster up close) but saw a couple of small whales jumping right into the air about half a mile away yesterday. back into the swing of feeling slightlu nauseous, watchingthe radar detector, and spending a hugely disproportionate amount of time in bed. Finished reading 'the master and margerita', now on to a Dennett book i never got round to for my dissertation

haven't checked the next few days' worth of weather yet, so hope i'm not in for a battering - i know there was a system with 45 knots further north, but it wasn't due to head this way last time i checked...

two breakages last night; the whisker pole and the kicking strap (for about the 4th time)

ah! got to go, caught a fish

me again (who else). fish got away. definitely a big one though - i had the rubber gloves on fighting it in for a time...

tale of excitement for today (apart from the fish) has been a rescue i nearly had to perform on a drifting mariner. i sat down to write up the log when i fancied i could hear a whistle outside, so, leaping up i scanned the waves in vain! then it came again, so i looked about madly like the chap in Jaws on his ownsome out at sea until i realised it was the biro lid in my mouth making the noise...

above breakages fixed, onwards with the journey!
