Well, two days out heading for the Tuamotos and we have a bad weather forecast. The problem with these atolls is that in strong winds the waves break over the windward side filling the lagoon with water. This water then rushes out of the little pass (sometimes less than 100 yards wide) that I want to go through making entry impossible. There are five of us in radio contact and we have explored all of the options. A couple of boats are two days ahead of me and have already altered course to safer water and an atoll with a much wider pass. I have slowed down to keep in deep clear water until the bad weather passes, hopefully ahead of me. I still hope to arrive at Kauehi Atoll on Thursday morning when I will be 11 hours behind UK time.

The boat is rigged for heavy weather by which I mean that the rum is securely stowed. It is time to wait and see. And hope. Sometimes it can be a bit lonely out here. But at least I do not have to worry about any silly crew. One of the boats ahead of me has four people aboard. FOUR! Imagine that....
