Back in Langkawi

It is a two stage sail back to Langkawi.  Such is the fishing activity that you just cannot sail at night.  Not that there was much sailing.  No wind!

I get the same berth in the marina.  I do not fancy anchoring out as it is a long way in for shopping and happy hour and the anchorage is far from sheltered.  Most of my old friends are here and a few new ones.  And more old friends on the way.  The humidity is high and it is a constant job of cleaning as mold appears.  I will be glad when Alex arrives to help.  Did I mention Alex before?  An Austrian girl who thinks it will be fun to sail with me for the month of November.  Already the locals are calling her Mad Alex.

I have a beer or two with the delivery crew of the ugly superyacht.  Boy, is this boat broken. Here is just one problem – the engine for the bow thruster can only be started at the engine and the cut-off switch is broken.  They stop the engine by holding a board over the air intake!

I am in regular contact with some of the boats crossing to South Africa.  The last bit is tricky.  Some of the Indian Ocean crossing looks like great fun.  But it is a long way to sail.  And the last bit is tricky.  Very tricky…
