Boat Lagoon

I head down to Boat Lagoon Marina which will be Wild Fox’s home for some time to come.  The approach is interesting and I need a pilot to take me the last four miles over the mud flats.  Inside the marina is completely land locked.  Which means perfect shelter.  Unfortunately it also means no cooling breeze and lots of mosquitos.

This 200 berth marina, with hardstand for as many boats has a 250 room resort hotel and about 50 businesses – coffee shops, restaurants, chandleries, supermarkets, boat repair businesses – is all owned by one Chinaman who arrived in Thailand 30 years ago selling baby clothes door to door from a suitcase.  Well done him!

I  hauled  on Tuesday and moved into the Resort Hotel (aircon!).  The first part of the re-fit will take four to five weeks.  Then I am off overland for about 70 days visiting Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia and Myanmar.  A mixture of ‘planes, boats, canoes, bicycles and feet.
But hard work in the heat looms before that happens…
