The procedure to clear out of Indonesia is a joke.  All papers were submitted on Thursday by  our agent.  We spent all day on Monday with different officials I four offices from 0800 to 1930.  Back on Tuesday at 0800.  Finished up at 1115! Nobody was laughing at this joke...

 

I left and after 12 odd miles my engine broke.  Actually, the fresh water pump seized.  I managed to sail in 5 knots of wind to a small island and anchored.  Next morning a local put-put towed me back.  So I cleared back in.  Some people said I was unlucky.  But if the pump has seized three hours later I would have been in the Straits of Singapore, one of the busiest shipping lanes in the world.  Next day went to Singapore and back for the replacement part which fitted.  Next day, Saturday, I went to clear out again not knowing what to expect.  I did it all in 45 minutes.  Where's the logic?
