> After Zebedee had sprung we headed for El Questro Gorge, on the way encountering our longest and deepest creek crossing so far but it was no problem for the Landcruiser.
>
> The gorge itself was a strenuous hike with a lot of clambering over big rocks. About 1/3 in we had to cross a deep pool and climb up a large rock straight out of the water. Of course we were over-dressed and had far too much kit with two rucksacks, satphone, walking boots etc so we had to try and keep all that dry whilst the young kids just carried on in their trainers carrying mostly just a bottle of water. We eventually reached the end which was a waterfall flowing into a deep pool. We had the place to ourselves. Had a swim, Fi too.. then ate our sandwiches (which we also had to keep dry!) and headed back. We were knackered by the time we got back to the car I can tell you, so then we just went for a gentle drive to a couple of viewpoints, Saddleback Ridge and Pigeon Hole. Well, the first one wasn’t so gentle, it turned out to be a steep, twisting 4WD track with a few nasty bits to catch you out near the top. Fi decided to walk the last 100m!
>
> After that we took ourselves back to the campsite, bought ourselves an orange and almond cake and had a cup of tea.

> The gorge is narrow and high with lots of vegetation and not much of a path,
> Just a few faded marks on the rocks to show the way.
